Last 21st & 22nd of April , the project TOP-REF participated in the impact workshop of the PPP SPIRE – Sustainable Process Industry through Resource and Energy Efficiency, held in Brussels.
TOP-REF, together with other projects showed the impacts achieved and those to be achieved over the efficieny of reosurces in the EU industry. In addition the attendants paved the way to increase these impacts by means of clustering activities.
TOP REF stood out among other projects due to the achievement of cross sectorial indicators (based in thermoeconomics) that enable the comparison between processes and sectors, as well as to support a well informed descission making.
Although TOP –REF is a project funded under the 7th Framework Program, launched before the creation of SPIRE, the project was invited as a best practice example in the management and assessment of a more efficient industry in Europe. In this line, TOP-REF is committed and aligned with the roadmap of SPIRE, bringing in the last 15 month of execution fruitful results, which can be found in the following link.
The event, consisted on there sessions focused on Efficient Processes, Process Control and Associated Parameters, and Sustainability and Circular Economy. Together with TOP-REF, other projects with high impact and outcomes were presented during the session of relevant FP7 Success Stories.
In addition, the conference counted with the special participation of Clara de la Torre, Director for Research and innovation at the European Commission DG RTD, Klaus Sommer, President of A.SPIRE, and Piermario Di Pietro, Senior Advisor at European Investment Bank.
