On 17 and 18 September, the TOP-REF partner CIRCE organized at its headquarters in Zaragoza (Spain), another meeting as part of the European R4R Project (Chemical Regions for Resource Efficiency).
Over 20 experts belonging to research centres, industries, universities and public authorities from the six European regions involved in the project, came together to discuss the various initiatives that will help achieve the project’s core objective: to improve resource efficiency in Europe’s chemical industry.
Boosting competitiveness and business opportunities
The purpose of the R4R Project, financed by the European Commission, is to improve regional and international “Triple helix” collaboration on resource efficiency and eco-innovation throughout the chemical and process industry.
By addressing the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats from an economic, innovation, research and development policy perspective, R4R will boost business opportunities for regional SMEs by identifying and promoting successful innovation systems, mechanisms, processes and incentives.
During the meetings, the members of the project defined the paths they will be following in the coming months, the outcome of which will be discussed during the last annual meeting in September 2015, to be held in Germany.
The next project meeting will take place in September 2015 in Germany, where the outcomes of the activities carried out during the three years of execution of the project will be presented.
The project was launched in November 2012 for a three years period , and will present its final outcomes during the final project meeting that will take place in Germany in 2015.
